Alberta holds small PNP draw with highest CRS cut-off since February.Xico india

The November 24 draw was tied for the second-smallest draw of the year, and had the second-highest CRS requirement.

Xico india

Alberta invited 100 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on November 24.

It was a relatively small draw, considering the majority of this year’s Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) draws have invited more than 200 candidates at a time. Only one other draw in January was as small as 100, and the smallest was 50.

The score requirement was also relatively high for an Alberta draw at 350. Only one other draw this year had a higher cut-off score at 360 in January.

Ontario wants more immigrants

Each year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allocates a certain number of nominations to the provinces and territories that run Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).xico India In 2021, Ontario received an allocation of 8,350 plus an additional 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers in intermediate skilled occupations, NOC Skill Level C.

As of November 10, 2021, Ontario has issued 8,600 nominations. Ontario’s immigration minister, Monte McNaughton, told CIC News in an October interview that the province is asking the federal government to double their allocation next year.

Ontario recently passed the Working for Workers Act, which among other things will help immigrant workers integrate into regulated industries outside of the health care sector. It will prohibit regulatory bodies from requiring Canadian work experience, eliminate the need to do a language test for the purpose of licensing, and speed up the licensing process, especially in cases of emergency.

Canada’s new Omicron travel rules at a glance.Xico india

Following the emergence of the Omicron variant, Canadian officials increased travel restrictions. Here is how you may be affected.

Xico india

After the Omicron variant emerged, Canada implemented a slew of new travel restrictions.

Travellers from 10 African countries were hit with increased restrictions last week. The affected nations include: Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique,Xico india Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Foreign nationals who have been to any of these countries within the past 14 days are not allowed to enter Canada.

The new measures also affect Canadian citizens and permanent residents travelling from these countries. They have to get a COVID-19 test in a third country in order to return home. A temporary measure is currently in place, which allows Canadians to get tested in South Africa, one of the countries with entry prohibitions.

The order in council for prohibiting specific countries from entering Canada is ongoing until at least January 31, 2022. Only Canadian citizens and permanent residents from these countries may enter, but they still have to follow stringent health measures.

Also, Canada reintroduced on-arrival testing and quarantine for travellers from all countries except the U.S. Xico india Fully vaccinated travellers must take a test on arrival, and quarantine at home until they receive the results.

We would like to try to make it easier for you to view the new rules before planning your trip to Canada. Here, the transport minister offers some flow charts that illustrate the new procedures for inbound travellers.

Before you travel…

The Canadian government website offers a web tool to help incoming travellers find out if they are allowed to enter the country. This online tool does not guarantee entry. The border officer will have the final say on whether or not you can travel to Canada.

Regardless of your vaccination status, you still need a 14-day quarantine plan in case the officer determines that you must self isolate.

All travellers age five and up must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure, or arrival at a land border crossing. If you have a positive test result, it must be between 14 and 180 days old.

In order to be recognized as fully vaccinated, you need the full recommended dose of one or a combination of the following vaccines:

  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
  • Moderna (Spikevax, mRNA-1273)
  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, COVISHIELD, ChAdOx1-S, AZD1222)
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
  • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
  • Sinopharm BIBP (BBIBP-CorV)
  • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)

Canadian citizenship applicants with representatives can now apply online.Xico india

Citizenship applicants who have representatives can now apply online, although the representative still cannot apply on their behalf.

Xico india

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expanded its online portal to include applications from applicants who have representatives on November 30.

“These applicants will still need to complete, sign, date and submit the application themselves and must not share their account access or password with anyone, including their representative,” IRCC said in an email. “Representatives cannot yet apply online on behalf of an applicant, but they can still provide advice on completing the application and they can communicate with IRCC on the applicant’s behalf after the online application is submitted.”

This is the latest move in modernizing the citizenship application system. Single applicants have been able to apply for citizenship online since August.Xico india management private limited Recently, Canada also started accepting proof of citizenship applications online. These documents allow the foreign-born children of Canadians to prove their right to citizenship.

In 2022, IRCC says it will open the online applications to:

  • families,
  • minors,
  • representatives to apply on behalf of their clients, and
  • clients who are declaring residence outside of Canada as a crown servant or with a crown servant family member.

Eligibility for Canadian citizenship

Canadian citizenship allows you to hold a Canadian passport, vote in elections, and run for office. Many people also consider it to be a great source of pride.

Permanent residents can apply for citizenship if they are over the age of 18 and have fulfilled the residency requirement. Within the past five years of applying for citizenship, you need to have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days. Children may also be granted citizenship, but they do not necessarily have to meet the residency requirement.

Applicants between the ages of 18 and 54 have to demonstrate their language proficiency in English or French with a Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 4 or higher. This age group also has to take a citizenship test.

In addition, applicants cannot have a criminal history considered prohibitive to granting Canadian citizenship.

If you get approved after you apply, the next step is to take the citizenship test, if you need to. Then you will attend a citizenship ceremony and take the Oath of Citizenship.

Job growth in Canada exceeded expectations in November.Xico india

Canada added 154,000 jobs in November and unemployment fell to 6%.

Xico india

With employment soaring beyond predictions and unemployment dropping to near pre-pandemic levels, new labour force data suggest that Canada is on its way to a full economic recovery.

This past November, Canadian employers added 154,000 jobs to the economy. Last month’s growth exceeded analysts’ predictions of 38,000, which was closer to October levels. The gains pushed employment a full percentage point higher than pre-pandemic levels.Xico india immigration management private limited Also, unemployment dropped to 6%, which is within 0.3 percentage points of what it was in February 2020.

Data from Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey reflect labour market conditions during the week of November 7 to 13. Proof-of-vaccination policies and other public health measures were largely similar to those in October.

Express Entry: IRCC finalizing over 14,000 CEC applications, and under 600 FSWP applications, per month(Xico india)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) accounts for 85 per cent of finalized Express Entry applications in 2021.

Xico india

New IRCC data shows how the department is currently prioritizing Express Entry applications.

The data represents the number of permanent residence applications submitted under Express Entry that have been approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Express Entry is the main way Canada welcomes economic class skilled immigrants. Candidates that meet the criteria of an Express Entry program can submit their profile onto IRCC’s website. Candidates receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on human capital criteria such as their age, education, language skills, and work experience.Xico india  Approximately every two weeks, IRCC invites the highest scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence. Such candidates then have 60 days to submit their permanent residence application to IRCC. Once IRCC approves the application, a candidate receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) which enables them to officially land in Canada as a permanent residence. The landing process can entail a COPR holder that was residing in Canada as a temporary resident converting their legal status to permanent residence. It can also entail an individual arriving from abroad with their COPR to become a permanent resident.

IRCC has made significant changes to its Express Entry policies amid the pandemic. The department is currently pursuing a plan to land 401,000 new permanent residents this year. At the start of 2021, it made the decision to focus on transitioning more temporary residents to permanent residence to give it a better shot of achieving its 401,000 immigrant target.Xico india  As a result, it has only invited Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates under Express Entry this year. This is a major departure from precedent since the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) accounted for some 45 per cent of successful Express Entry candidates before the pandemic. IRCC has made this temporary shift in policy for two reasons. First, it argues that because some 90 per cent of CEC candidates currently reside in Canada during the pandemic, they are less likely to face COVID-related disruptions that would impede their ability to complete their permanent residence landings in 2021. Second, IRCC continues to invite PNP candidates to help provinces across the country address their labour market needs.

Another impact of this shift is IRCC has not been inviting the highest-ranking candidates among the entire Express Entry pool, as it did prior to the pandemic, but rather it has invited the highest-ranking CEC and PNP candidates. This has caused overall CRS cut-off scores to decline as the department aimed to invite as many CEC candidates as possible to support its immigration target for this year. The most notable draw of the year came on February 13 when IRCC invited 27,332 CEC candidates to apply for permanent residence, a feat it achieved by setting the CRS cut-off score at just 75. To put this into perspective, this draw was almost six times larger than the previous record (Express Entry has existed since 2015), and the cut-off score was nearly 400 points lower than what it usually was prior to the pandemic.

CIC News has obtained data from IRCC showing that the CEC is accounting for some 85 per cent of all finalized Express Entry applications this year. Between January and October,Xico india  IRCC issued COPRs to 108,860 CEC applicants. The department has issued 12,514 COPRs to PNP candidates (about 10 per cent of all COPRs issued to Express Entry applicants this year).

The group most negatively impacted are FSWP candidates. They are recipients of just 6,795 COPRs this year.Xico india This is only 5 per cent of all COPRs issued to Express Entry candidates this year, about 9 times less than what it was prior to the pandemic.

How will $10-per-day child care impact Canada’s immigrants?Xico india

ANALYSIS: Canada's new daycare program is likely to be greatly beneficial to newcomers.

Xico india

In April 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outlined the goal of daycare costing an average of $10 per day across the country within the next five years.

In pursuit of this goal, the federal government has committed to investing $30 billion over the next five years and then a minimum of $9.2 billion annually after that.Xico india  The Prime Minister’s office stated the new system could reduce daycare fees by 50 percent on average everywhere outside of Quebec by the end of 2022. Since the announcement, the federal government has entered into talks with provinces and territories about implementing this new early learning and child care system. So far, it has reached agreements with seven provinces and one territory. Part of the agreements entails determining how much money the federal government will provide each jurisdiction to make child care more affordable, accessible, and to support child care providers themselves through the likes of skills training and wage increases.

The rationale behind this initiative is to spur economic growth and social prosperity across the country. Upon making the announcement, the Prime Minister’s office explained “By building an early learning and child care system, we will make life more affordable for Canadian families, create new jobs, grow the middle class,Xico india increase women’s participation in the workforce, and drive strong economic growth across the country.”
